HEART FM WINS CRIME STOPPERS AWARDS
Heart FM Release
On Friday, June 20th, 104.7 Heart FM was presented with two provincial Crime Stoppers Awards. The awards were announced earlier in June at the Crime Stoppers training conference in Hamilton.
Heart FM went 2-for-2 in the radio categories, population base under 100,000.
The station won for “Best Crime of the Week”, which featured two intentional fires set at a Woodstock public school on Canada Day weekend in 2007.
They also won “Best News Feature”, for reporting in the summer of 2007 on a reward posted for information leading to the solving of an unsolved murder in Woodstock.
The awards were presented on the air by local Crime Stoppers liaison officers Constable Bob McDonald of the Oxford Community Police, and Constable Mike Hanna of Oxford OPP.
Both of the features now move onto the Crime Stoppers International Awards, which are being held in Des Moines, Iowa in August.
