JANN ARDEN, MICHEL RIVARD TO BE INDUCTED INTO THE CAB BROADCAST HALL OF FAME

Music icons Jann Arden and Michel Rivard will be inducted into the Canadian Association of Broadcasters' Broadcast Hall of Fame in the Music Star category at the 2007 CAB Convention. The induction ceremonies will take place during the CAB Gold Ribbon Awards Gala on Monday November 5 at the Westin Hotel in Ottawa.
“We are honoured to pay tribute this year to two exceptional Canadian artists, Jann Arden and Michel Rivard, whose contributions to the music scene in Canada and abroad have touched the lives of a whole generation,” said the CAB President and CEO, Glenn O'Farrell. “We are also very pleased that both Ms. Arden and Mr. Rivard will be in attendance at the CAB Annual Convention in Ottawa, and have agreed to perform at the Gold Ribbon Awards Gala on November 5.
Jann Arden
Combining tremendous talent as a singer and songwriter with a passionate zest for life, Jann Arden has won the affection of a legion of fans during the course of her stellar career. Following the release of her first album in 1993 Time For Mercy, Jann Arden’s nine albums sold millions of copies worldwide and produced numerous top ten singles. Her latest effort, Uncover Me, was released earlier this year. It debuted at #1 on the Digital SoundScan Chart and placed third on the Nielsen’s Chart. The album went platinum after only three months. Jann Arden’s musical achievements have been celebrated with eight Juno Awards, several Western Canadian Music Awards, and numerous other accolades. Jann has found time for writing bestselling books, acting on stage, in films, and on television, and working with different charities. Jann Arden has made a place for herself at the very heart of the Canadian entertainment scene.
Michel Rivard
One of Quebec’s most respected and beloved singer-songwriters, Michel Rivard has carved out a special place for himself in Quebec’s dynamic music scene. A key member of the popular Quebec rock group “Beau Dommage”, Michel Rivard released numerous critically acclaimed albums which were warmly received by his many fans. His latest work Confiance was released in 2006 to rave reviews. Michel Rivard remains active on the Quebec musical scene to this day. He has won several Canadian and international awards. Through his commitment to his music, his great talent and his spirit, Michel Rivard has won a place for himself in the hearts of fans in Quebec, in Canada, and throughout la Francophonie.
The Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) is the national voice of Canada’s private broadcasters, representing the vast majority of Canadian programming services, including private radio and television stations, networks, specialty, pay and pay-per-view services. The goal of the CAB is to represent and advance the interests of Canada’s private broadcasters in the social, cultural and economic fabric of the country.
