CAB ANNOUNCES 2007 GOLD RIBBON AWARD WINNERS FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE

The Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) today recognized the outstanding community service of its members with the presentation of the prestigious Gold Ribbon Awards for Community Service. The awards were presented at the Gold Ribbon Awards Breakfast at the CAB’s 81st Annual Convention, in Ottawa.
As well, a Special Award was presented to veteran broadcaster Al MacKay, for his many years of work on the important issue to violence on television, and his leadership of the Action Group on Violence on Television.
The 2007 Gold Ribbon Awards were presented to the following stations and services:
Radio Community Service
- Small Market: CKLM-FM, Lloydminster (The Christmas Convoy)
- Medium Market: CFMC-FM, Saskatoon (C95 Radio Marathon for Breast Cancer) Rawlco Radio Ltd.
- Large Market: CHFI-FM, Toronto (The 98.1 CHFI Radiothon to Help Stop Violence Against Women) Rogers Broadcasting Ltd.
Television Community Service
- Small Market: CHOT-TV, Gatineau (L’Enflammé spécial) RNC MEDIA Inc.
- Medium Market: CFPL-TV, London (Connections) CTVglobemedia Inc.
- Large Market: CIVT-TV, Vancouver (Dead End Streets) CTVglobemedia Inc.
Specialty/Pay/PPV Public Service
- Canal Vie, Montréal (Campagne « Don d’organes ») Astral Media Inc.
Gold Ribbon Awards
The Gold Ribbon Awards pay tribute to achievements in broadcasting in various categories including community service, breaking news, humour, public affairs and promotion of Canadian talent. A total of 544 submissions were received for the 2007 Gold Ribbon Awards.
These awards are among the most prestigious in the Canadian broadcasting industry, and recognize outstanding productions in radio, television, specialty and pay services, and community service.
The Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) is the national voice of Canada’s private broadcasters, representing the vast majority of Canadian programming services, including private radio and television stations, networks, specialty, pay and pay-per-view services. The goal of the CAB is to represent and advance the interests of Canada’s private broadcasters in the social, cultural and economic fabric of the country.
