CORUS LAUNCHES NEW WINNIPEG STATION

Corus Radio Winnipeg is pleased to announce the launch of 99.1 Groove FM (CJGV FM), Winnipeg’s newest radio station, premiering Monday, November 5 at 7:14 a.m. (CT). Featuring the image voice of Academy Award® winner Isaac Hayes, audiences will hear artists like George Benson, Michael Bublé, Earth Wind and Fire, Marvin Gaye, Sade and Grover Washington Jr. plus a programming line up that gives listeners a unique, adult alternative on the dial.

 

“Months of research went into building 99.1 Groove FM and we’re confident that given the station’s unique format, that no matter how you are feeling, the station will help you find your groove. It’s a feeling that you can enjoy anywhere. All you have to do is turn it on and turn it up,” said Garth Buchko, General Manager, Corus Radio Winnipeg. “We are pleased to have 99.1 Groove FM join the Corus Radio Winnipeg family as sister station to CJOB 68 and Power 97.”

 

The 99.1 Groove FM programming line up will feature:

 

  • Dan Michaels, from 6 - 10 a.m., weekdays
  • Russ Tyson, middays, weekdays
  • Roxane Gagne, from 2 – 7 p.m., weekdays
  • “Lights Out” with Walle Larsson, from 7 p.m. – 12 a.m., weekdays
  • Smooth Jazz Top 20 Countdown with Allen Kepler, from 4 – 6 p.m., every Saturday
  • Legends of Jazz with Ramsey Lewis, from 8 – 10 p.m., every Sunday

 

Supporting local jazz initiatives in the city is a top priority: Corus Radio Winnipeg and 99.1 Groove FM will continue to partner with the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Music Jazz Studies program as well as hold title sponsor status of the Jazz Winnipeg Festival.
