Broadcaster

RTNDA Canada - The Association of Electronic Journalist has honoured the best in electronic journalism in the Prairie region in 2006. RTNDA Canada presented the coveted RTNDA Awards at the Association's annual Prairie Regional Professional Development Seminar.

This year RTNDA Canada created five new award categories to recognize outstanding videography, use of sound, new media, information programming and diversity.

The RTNDA "Diversity Tool Kit" which was released across the country in January offers practical solutions to bring diversity to our stories and to our newsrooms. To acknowledge those accomplishments RTNDA created a new Diversity Award this year. Congratulations to Global Calgary and CBC Saskatchewan for winning the inaugural awards in the Prairie region.

Twelve television and eight radio stations received a prestigious RTNDA Canada Excellence in Broadcast Journalism award. Global stations in Saskatoon, Calgary, Winnipeg and Regina took home four awards followed by CTV stations in Calgary, Regina and Edmonton. Other winning stations included: CBC North; CHAT; City TV Calgary; CBC Saskatchewan and Southwest TV News.
