OWEN SOUND PULLS TOGETHER FOR SPECIAL OLYMPICS ATHLETES

Mix 106 Release

Here's yet another example of radio doing what it’s meant to do!

After the 2007 Special Olympics Ontario Winter Games were held in Owen Sound in February, organizers came to Bayshore Broadcasting with a proposal on what to do with the 160 left over Special Olympic Winter jackets. Mix 106 took it and ran!

With the help of the community - corporate sponsors, small business, offices, families, and individuals - we managed to get all 160 jackets sponsored and handed out to the Special Olympians who, otherwise, wouldn't have had them. From the day we announced the challenge on the Mix Morning Show and at all four newsrooms of Bayshore Broadcasting (Mix 106, Country 93, CFOS, 98 The Beach) the phones didn't stop ringing at the Special Olympics office. Organizers said they were hoping to be able to find sponsors for a couple of dozen jackets and were thrilled when the community rallied to get rid of every last one of them… and put smiles on the faces of so many local Special Olympians!

Another example of what our business can do.
