CHUM LIMITED LAUNCHES ENERGY 101.5 FM Calgary's Newest Radio Station CNW CHUM Limited has launched its new FM radio station in Calgary. Energy 101.5 FM hit the air at 1:01pm MT on Thursday, March 22 playing a mix of today's hottest adult contemporary music.
"We are ecstatic to be part of the Calgary market," said General Manager, James Stuart. "We asked our audience what they wanted their new station to sound like and received an overwhelming response. Our team worked day and night to create a format that reflects what Calgary asked for. The result is Energy 101.5 FM, a station featuring music that makes you feel energized, with entertaining and compelling personalities who relate to life in Calgary."
Energy 101.5 FM features 35% Canadian content, providing mainstream media exposure to local and national Canadian musicians. During the term of its license, the station will invest $640,000 annually to the development and promotion of Canadian talent through various initiatives including the CHUM Emerging Indie Artist Initiative to increase exposure for emerging Canadian artists.
Energy 101.5 FM is currently testing its signal and will continue to do so until Monday, April 2. The station's personalities will hit the airwaves beginning Tuesday, April 10 and the station will officially launch on Thursday, April 12.
The Energy 101.5 FM interactive street-level studios are located in the Citytv Calgary building on 7th Avenue SW, in the downtown core of one of Canada's fastest growing communities.
