WCBS-FM/NEW YORK RETURNS AllAccess The much-hyped format flip at CBS Adult Hits WCBS (101.1 Jack FM)/New York happened this afternoon, with Jack-FM ending Soprano-like, with Journey's Don't Stop Believin' cutting out, and a pre-produced promo from Chris Angelo and Dermot O'Neill, featuring VO talent Ziggy beginning just prior to the promised 1:01p, using music from the '60s, '70s and '80s; news and entertainment clips; and, of course, the famous WCBS-FM jingles.
The promo backtimed to 1:01p, and the station began its new life with its old format with former New York City Mayor Ed Koch commenting it was nice for the CBS people to admit "they blew it. Welcome back, CBS-FM!"
The first song was introduced by Al Jardine of Beach Boys fame, introducing "Do It Again." Frankie Valli checked in, and the second tune was "December 1963 (Oh What A Night)" by The Four Seasons.
The rest of the first hour was:
Aretha Franklin - Respect Bruce Springsteen - Glory Days Fleetwood Mac - Don't Stop Lovin' Spoonful - Summer In the City Maxine Nightingale - Right Back To Where We Started From Rolling Stones - Satisfaction Billy Joel - Only the Good Die Young The Contours - Do You Love Me? John Mellencamp - Jack and Diane Beatles - Twist and Shout Bee Gees - You Should Be Dancing Roy Orbison - Pretty Woman Tommy James & the Shondells - Mony Mony Donna Summer - Last Dance
