At this year’s RMB Crystal Awards at the Fairmont Royal York, they’ll also get the chance to enjoy a comedy pro at work. When high-voltage Canadian stand-up comedian and writer Tim Steeves takes the stage, he owns the room like Muhammad Ali ruled the ring, skillfully working the audience with deftly placed combination punches of cerebral wit.
A triple-Gemini-award-winner and currently a staff writer for CBC Television’s number one show The Rick Mercer Report, Tim has also written for several seasons of This Hour has 22 Minutes. Steeves was nominated for a Gemini for his writing on Talking to Americans with Rick Mercer, the most viewed comedy special in the history of Canadian television. He also hosted the sports trivia cult hit Game On and the raucous male chat show Real Men.
Tim Steeves is well known to comedy fans as a headliner at countless clubs and theatres in Canada and around the world – most recently in London, England - and is a favourite Montreal International Comedy Festival "Just for Laughs" Gala performer. What many fans don’t know is that during high school, he found a sponsor, started his own radio show, and let his contagious sense of play loose with rock and roll every Friday night to a loyal Sussex, New Brunswick audience.
