HOMICIDE DETECTIVES NOW LOOKING INTO KDND CONTEST DEATH All Access Sacramento Sheriff John McGinness is reportedly alarmed by audio recordings of Entercom Top 40 KDND (107.9 The End)'s water-drinking contest that may have led to the death of 28-year-old Jennifer Strange and has directed homicide detectives to look into whether a crime was committed, the Sacramento Bee reports.
The sheriff had said previously that no charges would be filed because Strange had participated in the contest of her own free will, but after the Bee obtained recordings of the show -- which apparently include Morning Rave talents talking about potential dangers of drinking too much water -- McGinness decided that further investigation was warranted. He also said manslaughter charges could be filed if it is determined that the air talents did not render aid to the victim.
Ten KDND staffers -- including the Morning Rave and PD Steve Weed -- were dismissed following the incident. |
