STREAMTHEWORLD LAUNCHES FLASH-BASED BRANDED WEB RADIO PLAYER

Montreal based broadcaster CKOI has teamed with webcast technology company StreamTheWorld to deliver a Flash-based branded Internet radio product sponsored by Canadian brewer Molson Dry.
By employing a streaming technology that StreamTheWorld unveiled at the 2006 NAB, users can listen to live CKOI radio both in MP3 and AAC+ formats through a Flash player.
The Flash-based players offer four formats: a simulcast of CKOI's FM stream as well as three other dedicated channels (rock, dance, and Top 50), and provide a rich visual interface for users.
The slick presentation and overall graphic appeal of the player does a good job of blending the branded sponsorship with a functional product. In place of a pre-roll advertisement, listeners watch a brief Flash intro spotlighting Molson products. Users can vote on each song and scan through a library of upcoming songs to get a better feel for the formats.
