Selector XV users - Older Versions of RCS Menu are Incompatible with Microsoft's New Browser

In a few days, Microsoft will be replacing their existing browser on millions of computers worldwide with their new browser, Internet Explorer version 7 (IE7). This new browser will be automatically added to your computer sometime after November 1st IF you have "automatic updates" enabled on your system.

 

If you allow this automatic updating from Microsoft to occur without also upgrading your RCS software, you will no longer be able to use RCS Menu. RCS Menu is the program which provides Internet Licensing, Internet updates, and RCS Data Exchange services.

To keep your RCS software up-to-date and in working order, we strongly recommend all users of Selector XV, Linker XV, or Master Control XV upgrade to the RCS Menu "w-update" before installing Microsoft's IE7. This is a very quick and easy process.

 

The RCS Solution: simply download the w-update of RCS Menu, which has been modified to work with Microsoft's new IE7. You can obtain the w-update via the Internet Update from RCS Menu.

 

Who is affected? RCS customers using any Microsoft Operating System version XP or higher (including Windows XP, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, or Windows Server 2003), and on the same computer running Selector XV, Linker XV, or Master Control XV. However, if your operating system is Windows 2000 or Windows NT, you can disregard this notice.

 

What happens if I do nothing? You will no longer be able to run RCS Menu.

 

Who is not affected? If you're using Version 12 of Selector, Linker or Master Control, or any version of GSelector, you are ok and unaffected by this Microsoft browser change. There is no action necessary.

 

If you have already installed IE7: the only way to add the w-update from RCS is to uninstall IE7 (go to Windows Control Panel, then Add/Delete Programs), then upgrade to the RCS w update and reinstall IE7, if you wish.

 

Version 14 users please note: If you are running version 14 of any RCS product on Windows XP or higher, please contact us directly for update instructions.
