CAB ANNOUNCES 2006 GOLD RIBBON AWARD WINNERS

The Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) yesterday recognized the outstanding work of its members with the presentation of the prestigious Gold Ribbon Awards. The awards were presented at the CAB’s 80th Anniversary Convention in Vancouver.

 

The Gold Ribbon Awards pay tribute to achievements in broadcasting in various categories including community service, breaking news, humour, public affairs and promotion of Canadian talent. A total of 518 submissions were received for the 2006 Gold Ribbon Awards, of which, the judges selected 146 finalists in 33 award categories.

 

These awards are among the most prestigious in the Canadian broadcasting industry, and recognize outstanding productions in radio, television, specialty and pay services, and community service.

The 2006 Radio Judging Panel met August 18, 19 and 20 to review entries received from CAB member stations. In 2006, the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) celebrates 80 years as the national voice of Canada’s private broadcasters, representing the vast majority of Canadian programming services, including private radio and television stations, networks, specialty, pay and pay-per-view services.
