Z103.5 WINS CMW'S 'CHR STATION OF THE YEAR AWARD'

Z103.5 Release

CIDC FM, Z103.5 Today's HIT Music has taken home the esteemed CHR Station of the Year award at the Canadian Music Week Industry Awards celebration, held at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto on March 2nd, 2006.

To be chosen Canada's CHR Station of the Year is an amazing accomplishment. This is not the first time that the Evanov Radio Group has faced the giants of broadcasting. In the Fall of 1994, the Evanov Radio Group purchased 103.5 CIDC FM and launched a "Top 40" format and took the station from 82,000 listeners (Fall 1994 BBM) to 700,000 listeners (Spring 2005 BBM). In 2001 and 2002, Z103.5 outmaneuvered and outperformed the three Corus Energy Stations combined and competed successfully against CISS FM owned by Rogers Broadcasting. Rogers eventually abandoned the "Top 40" format leaving the Evanov Radio Group.

The signal coverage includes the Toronto market but also reaches other key markets including Kitchener-Waterloo, Hamilton, Guelph and Barrie. Z103.5 began broadcasting in January of 1995 and has grown to become Southern Ontario's only CHR station, a format that encompasses Top 40, Hip Hop, R&B, Dance and Pop.
