QUEBEC SHOCK JOCK TO AIR ON INTERNET
Broadcaster
Shock jock Jeff Fillion will return to the radio microphone Friday, this time on the Internet, a year after leaving CHOI-FM.
The online show is said to have a format nearly identical to that of his former position.
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission in 2004 ordered CHOI closed for several breaches of the Broadcasting Act, citing racist, sexist and vulgar language by Fillion and another radio host.
A Quebec Superior Court judge ordered Fillion and CHOI owner Genex to pay
$300,000 for his on-air comments that targeted a TV weather presenter.
Fillion has said turning to Internet radio will give him more freedom to express his views.
