MOJO FLIP TO ALL-TRAFFIC
CHMJ-AM Reformatted to Offer Essential Traffic Reports without the Wait and Time-Shifted Programming for Busy Listeners
Corus Release
Corus Radio Vancouver announced today that it is reformatting its CHMJ-AM frequency to better serve the needs of the Vancouver community. Signing on Monday, June 5 at 7:30 a.m., the new AM730 Continuous Drive Time Traffic and the Best of Talk provides Vancouver listeners with an essential service in a brand new way.
In a completely unique and innovative format, AM730 Continuous Drive Time Traffic and the Best of Talk delivers continuous traffic reports during the critical morning and afternoon drive periods. The new station also features the Vancouver Whitecaps and Giants and the Seattle Seahawks play-by-play games as well as the "best of talk," offering original programming and time-shifted CKNW signature programming.
"Appealing to a targeted and highly mobile audience, this new and groundbreaking continuous traffic format fills a void in the Vancouver market. Imagine never having to wait for a traffic report during the prime drive times," said JJ Johnston, General Manager, Corus Radio Vancouver. "AM730 Continuous Drive Time Traffic and the Best of Talk is a unique format based on public service. The station has its own brand personality, incorporating original programming, including play-by-play sports, and CKNW signature programming in alternative timeslots for busy listeners."
AM730 Continuous Drive Time Traffic and the Best of Talk is an integral part of the Corus Radio Vancouver cluster, providing superior up-to-the-minute traffic reports to sister stations CKNW, 99.3 The FOX and Classic Rock 101 from the AM730 Traffic Chopper and the AM730 Traffic Centre.
This reformat and restructuring has resulted in the reduction of 14 full-time staff.
