PROMOTIONS AT RADIO CJVR LTD. The President and owner of Radio CJVR Ltd., Gene Fabro announced today that Ken Singer has been promoted from Vice President and General Manager of CJVR FM and CK 750 to Vice President, Broadcast Operations for Radio CJVR Ltd. In his new position, Ken will be responsible for the overall operations of the company’s radio stations in Melfort and their newly acquired radio station, CIXM-FM in Whitecourt Alberta. To date, CJVR has applied for new licences to operate FM stations in Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray, Medicine Hat, Saskatoon and Regina. CJVR’s owner went on to say that he and his family feel confident that under Singer’s leadership, CJVR Ltd. will achieve its strategic plan to grow its broadcast holdings. He went on to say, with that growth, we hope to offer new opportunities to the dedicated employees in our operations in Melfort and Whitecourt. Following Mr. Fabro’s announcement, Ken Singer announced that Kevin Gemmell will be promoted from Sales Manager to Station Manager/Sales Manager of FM Country CJVR and CK 750 AM in Melfort. Kevin started with CJVR as an announcer in 1996, moved into sales a few years later and on to assistant Sales Manager then to Sales Manager. Singer further announced that Neil Shewchuk will be promoted from Sports Director of the Melfort stations to Station Manager/Sales Manager of CJVR’s new Whitecourt station, CIXM-FM. He mentioned that Neil’s 25 year career with the company makes him an excellent choice to lead the new team in Alberta. Neil will undoubtedly be missed by our Saskatchewan listeners who have enjoyed his personality and professional sports coverage for the past two and half decades. He will continue to be the play-by-play voice of the U of S Huskies football team in addition to his management duties in Whitecourt. CJVR’s popular hockey play by play announcer, Tim Edmonds will assume the role of Sports Director for the Melfort stations.
