CRTC WILL OPEN CHUM COMMENTS TO POLICY DEBATE All Access
The CRTC review of BELL GLOBEMEDIA's purchase of CHUM LTD. is becoming a forum of sorts for public concern about media consolidation, with the GLOBE AND MAIL reporting that the review will allow for a broad debate on media ownership issues.
The unusual move to open the review to policy issues is intended to avoid having complaints and comments about the CHUM purchase dominating a planned review of television ownership policy in NOVEMBER. The CRTC is expected to hld hearings to consider the sale early next year, followed by a decision next SPRING. |
