RADIO WAVES CARRY MIRACLES WITH HELP OF FORESTERS Hospitalized kids benefit from partnership of Children's Miracle Network, Foresters and 270 radio stations CNW Every year miraculous stories of children overcoming injuries and illnesses of every kind are broadcast straight to the hearts of communities across North America through the Children's Miracle Network Radiothon program. Making the Radiothon program possible is Foresters™, a community-focused life insurance organization inspired by helping children. Children's Miracle Network is pleased to announce that Foresters has renewed its long-standing commitment to the Radiothon program through 2009.
Jim Hall, CEO of Children's Miracle Network, said, "Since the beginning, Foresters strong support of Radiothon has been a critical factor in the program's success and has set an example for other corporate partners. We are confident that Foresters continued support will take the program to even higher levels of success."
Under the new agreement, Foresters will provide $7.5 million in funding to underwrite the costs of the international program. Foresters support helps ensure that every dollar raised in the community stays in the community to directly help children. With the underwriting support of Foresters in 2005, participating radio stations raised a cumulative $52 million for Children's Miracle Network hospitals, including 12 Canadian hospitals. Dollars raised through the Radiothon program are used to fund life-saving medical care, preventative education programs and research into childhood diseases such as pediatric cancer, cystic fibrosis, sickle cell anemia and pediatric AIDS.
Foresters and Children's Miracle Network's relationship is built on a shared commitment to improving the health and well being of children. The relationship has grown dramatically over the past 15 years from a modest beginning of grassroots fund raising in 1990 to its current international sponsorship of Radiothon. Foresters has generously committed more than $21.3 million and countless volunteer hours to Children's Miracle Network. Its support has enabled Children's Miracle Network to raise more than $225 million through Radiothon and other fund-raising activities.
"We're proud to continue our partnership with Children's Miracle Network," said Foresters President and CEO George Mohacsi. "This program is an ideal fit for us because it reflects our commitment to investing in local communities, our focus on improving children's health, and our passion for grassroots involvement through volunteerism. We're particularly pleased that our investment will allow dollars generated by Radiothon to stay within the communities where the funds are raised."
Currently, Children's Miracle Network Radiothons involve more than 270 radio stations throughout North America. These stations, with a broad range of formats, bring unique flair and local programming to these fund raising events.
