CAB WELCOMES THE LAUNCH OF THE RADIO REVIEW PROCESS

CAB Release

The Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) welcomes the release of the CRTC’s Notice of Public Hearing announcing the official start of the Radio Review process.

“Canada’s private radio broadcasters welcome the opportunity to examine the issues facing our industry, and look forward to engaging all stakeholders in a meaningful discussion on the course that radio broadcasting policy should take in the coming years,” said CAB President and CEO Glenn O’Farrell. “This review of radio policy comes at a time of significant change in the industry, and it is our hope that the review will help guide broadcasting policy in a direction that will allow us to meet these new challenges directly.”

The CAB, in consultation with its members and radio committees, is currently assembling a comprehensive and cohesive set of data that will clearly state the current challenges and opportunities for private radio broadcasters, and the direction that radio broadcasting policy should take to ensure that private radio continues to be successful. Ensuring the health of private radio is crucial if we are to continue strengthening the Canadian broadcasting system and achieve the objectives defined in the Broadcasting Act.

The Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) is the national voice of Canada’s private broadcasters, representing the vast majority of Canadian programming services, including private radio and television stations, networks, specialty, pay and pay-per-view services.
