Broadcaster

XM Canada announced today that it will be adding Major League Baseball to its industry-leading sports lineup. The 2006 MLB season officially begins April 2 as World Series champs the Chicago White Sox host the Cleveland Indians at U.S. Cellular Field. Baseball fans across Canada can listen to live play-by-play coverage of their favourite teams throughout the season including the Toronto Blue Jays opening game against the Minnesota Twins on April 4 live from the Rogers Centre.

"The sounds of baseball stadiums across the League will be music to the ears of fans across the country. XM Canada is extremely excited about the latest addition to our already stellar sports lineup. It's particularly exciting because expectations for the Blue Jays are so high this season," said Ross Davies, vice president of programming, XM Canada. "With XM Canada's unique combination of Major League Baseball, NHL Hockey and PGA TOUR Golf, Canadian sports fans can listen to the best professional sports year round."

In order to accommodate its extensive Major League Baseball schedule, XM Canada will be expanding its cutting-edge channel line-up to 100 channels and launching a Major League Baseball news and information channel which will be produced in the XM Canada studio in Toronto. Fans can tune in to get the latest schedule information and baseball news, which will also be highlighted every five minutes on all the MLB play-by-play channels throughout the baseball season. XM Canada will be making a further announcement about its extended selection of channels in the weeks to come.

XM Canada also carries MLB Home Plate the first and only year-round talk radio channel devoted solely to baseball. MLB Home Plate has an all-star line-up of on-air talent, including baseball legend Cal Ripken, Jr., who hosts the weekly XM show "Ripken Baseball" with his brother and fellow MLB veteran Bill Ripken. New York Yankees' All-Star shortstop Derek Jeter recently signed on to make regular guest appearances on MLB Home Plate programs.
