XM CANADA EXPANDS CHANNEL LINEUP TO INCLUDE UP TO 100 CHANNELS, OFFERING THE MOST CHOICE AND THE MOST COMMERCIAL FREE MUSIC IN CANADA

XM Canada, the country's number one satellite radio service, today unveiled its new channel lineup that will expand XM Canada's program offering to up to 100 channels with eight new commercial-free music channels and Major League Baseball play-by-play action.

XM HAS THE DEEPEST PLAYLISTS FOR MUSIC LOVERS

 

Overall, XM Canada's music programming offers the deepest playlists and most choice in commercial-free music in Canadian satellite radio. XM Canada is adding new commercial-free music channels including Big Tracks (XM Channel 49), focusing on classic rock from the late 70's onward, XM Chill (XM Channel 84), devoted to chill and smooth electronica music and XM Liquid Metal (XM Channel 42), a new "XL" heavy metal channel.

 

The new commercial-free music channels on XM are:

 

  • Big Tracks (XM Channel 49): Classic Rock from the late '70s onward

 

  • XM Chill (XM Channel 84): Chill Music

 

  • XM Liquid Metal (XM Channel 42): Heavy Metal

 

  • The Heat (XM Channel 68): Rhythmic Top 40

 

  • Viva (XM Channel 91): Latin Pop Hits

 

  • US Country (XM Channel 17): Country Superstars of the '80s & '90s

 

  • Flight 26 (XM Channel 26): Modern Hits of the '90s & Now

 

  • Escape (XM Channel 78): Soothing Easy Listening

 

XM Canada is also reinvigorating the following popular music and sport entertainment channels:

 

  • Unsigned (XM Channel 52) will now be called "The Verge" and will feature exclusive weekly concerts with Canadian artists from XM Canada's street-front studio in Toronto

 

  • The Fish (XM Channel 32) is being renamed "The Message"

 

  • Franc Parler (XM Channel 172) is becoming "Sport Plus" and will feature an increased emphasis on sports

 

"OPRAH & FRIENDS" ON XM STARTING IN SEPTEMBER ON CHANNEL 156

 

The recently-announced Oprah & Friends channel will debut on XM channel 156, beginning in September 2006. The channel will feature a weekly reality radio show with Oprah Winfrey and the editor-at-large of O, The Oprah Magazine, Gayle King, as well as programs hosted by Oprah's friends, all experts who appear regularly on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," including exercise physiologist Bob Greene, author Marianne Williamson, psychologist Dr. Robin Smith, heart surgeon Dr. Mehmet Oz, and interior design expert Nate Berkus.

 

BOB DYLAN'S XM SHOW DEBUTS IN MAY ON "DEEP TRACKS"

 

Bob Dylan will host a weekly, hour-long music show exclusively on XM beginning in May on XM's deep album rock channel Deep Tracks (XM Channel 40). The program marks the first time the music legend has ever hosted a radio show. The show features an eclectic mix of music hand-selected by Dylan. He will offer regular commentary on music and other topics, and interview special guests, including fellow musicians.

 

NUMBER ONE IN SPORTS

 

XM Canada offers the most play-by-play action and captivating sports coverage of the National Hockey League (NHL) and PGA TOUR and is the official satellite radio network of Major League Baseball (MLB).

 

Hockey fans can tune in to the most comprehensive NHL coverage of more than 40 games per week and 1,000 games per season as well as the exclusive 24-hour Home Ice talk channel, where NHL all-stars and legends share everything they know about hockey. XM will become the exclusive satellite radio home of the NHL after next season. The PGA TOUR Network on channel 146 provides golf fans with live play-by-play and in-depth coverage of PGA TOUR events, news, interviews and call-in programs. Baseball fans can catch the games of all the Major League Baseball teams, including 162 to be played by Canada's team, the Toronto Blue Jays.

 

As part of the channel lineup expansion, XM Canada will be moving from 9 to 10 Canadian channels with the addition of the Major League Baseball news and information channel which will be produced from XM Canada's Toronto studio.
