Continuing its commitment to the Canadian music industry, Rogers Wireless today announces its title sponsor ship of Canadian Music Week taking place March 1st-4th, 2006 in Toronto. Now in its 24th year, Canadian Music Week is the single longest running and premiere conference, awards show and new music festival.

The Rogers Wireless Canadian Music Week Festival, taking place in 30 downtown Toronto venues, is a once-in-a-year opportunity for artists to get their music in front of over 3,000 movers and shakers in the industry. Applications are currently pouring in from across the country, with artists competing to be one of the 450 performers in the Festival. The Sins, a Montreal-based rock group who have been playing together for 2 years, have already secured their showcase spot. Aspiring artists have until October 31st to apply for the remaining spots in the Festival's showcase.

"We are truly excited to be a part of Rogers Wireless Canadian Music Week because we understand how important music is to our customers," says John Boynton, Chief Marketing Officer, Rogers Wireless. "Being title sponsor of Rogers Wireless Canadian Music Week enables Rogers Wireless not only to provide our customers with access to the incredible artists, both homegrown and international, who will be showcased during the Festival, but also to continue to demonstrate our support for the music industry through the conference, trade show and awards presentations that make up Rogers Wireless Canadian Music Week."

"The focus of the Festival has always been to give up-and-coming artists a chance to strut their stuff in front of the 'who's who' of the Canadian and international music industries," says Neill Dixon, President of Rogers Wireless Canadian Music Week. "This is the one time per year when all of the key players congregate to rub shoulders and do business. There is no other opportunity for artists to access so many influential people in one place. For new artists, Rogers Wireless Canadian Music Week can be their big break."

Screening panels for the Rogers Wireless Canadian Music Week Festival consist of representatives from major record labels, recording studios, booking agencies, management companies and various other sectors pertaining to the industry, who will determine which acts will garner a spot in the Festival. Previously consisting of dozens of Canada's top music industry experts, this year's panel will now include select international professionals from several countries, allowing for all bands to get their music in front of the key people in the industry they're trying to attract.

Montreal's The Sins were selected out of 800 artists as the winners of a contest open to early applicants. The Sins receive a Gibson Guitar valued at $1,800 and a confirmed showcase spot in the Rogers Wireless Canadian Music Festival.

"You guys are great! I can't wait to rock Rogers Wireless Canadian Music Week," said The Sins lead vocalist Sindy. "Our love, our music is rock. The songs resonate metaphorical meaning as well as everyday topics. Our sound is '80s with "our" modern twist. Our band is technically, creatively & expressively schooled, making us one Hell of a good ensemble. Add a sexy-stage-crazed lead-singer, and voilà The Sins."

All applicants for the Rogers Wireless Canadian Music Week Festival will receive a delegate pass (valued at $225 per person) to the Tune Up Conference which is designed specifically for artists starting out in the business. In addition, each applicant will receive a one-year subscription to Canadian Musician magazine, courtesy of Norris-Whitney Communications. Festival wristbands for admission to the events will go on sale in early 2006. For more information, visit the CMW web site at www.cmw.net or call 905-858-4747.
