CAB Release
On the eve of the Canadian Association of Broadcasters’ 79th Annual Convention, CAB President & CEO Glenn O’Farrell will address the unprecedented changes affecting Canadian private broadcasting before the Canadian Club of Winnipeg, at 12 pm, Wednesday, November 2, at Winnipeg’s Delta Hotel (350 St. Mary’s Avenue).
Today, we are faced with the rapid advances in technology providing new content options, more convenience and expanded choice and significant changes in demographics that are affecting the broadcast industry. At the same time, an ever growing segment of consumers expect on-demand access to information and entertainment provided by the internet, cell phones, digital music files, and a multi-channel universe. In his speech, Mr. O’Farrell will address the challenges and opportunities arising from this new reality, and lay out the industry’s vision in order to address the future of Canadian broadcasting in this new environment.
The Future Summit, the CAB’s 2005 National Conference, will take place on November 7 and 8 at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. This marks the first time the CAB has held the event in the Manitoba capital since 1994. The Future Summit will feature close to 90 industry experts on subjects ranging from the future of regulation to new strategies for digital radio to the new marketing imperative for broadcasters.
The Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) is the national voice of Canada’s private broadcasters, representing the vast majority of Canadian programming services, including private radio and television stations, networks, specialty, pay and pay-per-view services.
