101.5 SILK FM RADIOTHON A SUCCESS
Silk Release
The 2nd Annual 101.5 Silk FM Radiothon for Kids has wrapped up and raised a staggering $107,795 for BC Children’s Hospital. For the past two days, 101.5 Silk FM has been broadcasting live from the Orchard Park Shopping Centre.
One hundred percent of the funds raised goes directly to BC Children’s Hospital for urgently needed research, equipment and education programs. BC Children’s Hospital is the province’s only acute care facility for children and last year saw over 3,500 patient visits from Okanagan children alone.
“We are touched by the willingness of Okanagan families to share their personal stories with all of us,” said Andy James, Program Director at 101.5 Silk FM. “We really want to thank Kelowna for their generosity.”
The phone banks were manned by various community and corporate groups and featured celebrity guests such as Mayor Walter Gray, Toby Tannas and Mike Roberts (CHBC TV) and Jay Christensen (Head Coach of the Okanagan Sun).
“We want to thank everyone that opened their heart to BC Children’s Hospital these past two days,” said Kimberley Fenlon from BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. “The tremendous amount raised will help sick and injured children across the province.”
Emotional stories of hope and miracles were told during the two day event, by pediatric doctors and Okanagan families who utilize BC Children’s Hospital for consultation and treatment.
