The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences announced that Toronto has been selected to host the site of the new Canadian Music Hall of Fame. The location of the new building will be the intersection of Yonge and Dundas, in the heart of the recently re-developed downtown Toronto core that attracts more than 50 million people annually.
Toronto's Downtown Yonge area is the perfect choice for the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and symbolizes the rejuvenation of a cleaner, safer and more inviting downtown, says the Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area.
"With over 52 million people already visiting the downtown business area annually, and as a designated tourist destination, the new Canadian Music Hall of Fame will be located on 'Canada's main street' and handy to a growing range of business, shopping and entertainment opportunities", says Arron Barberian, chair of the Downtown Yonge B.I.A.
The new Music Hall of Fame will be located at the Metropolis development on the north east corner of Yonge Street at Dundas Street. The property is a neighbour to Yonge-Dundas Square and steps to Canada's most famous record stores, rock radio stations and performance venues - Massey Hall, Canon Theatre, Elgin & Winter Garden Theatre Centre, the Carlu and the Hard Rock Café.
