LONDON RADIOTHON FOR CHILDREN’S 2005 SETS A RECORD!

Standard Radio Release

London - It kicked off Wednesday, April 27 at 6.00 a.m. and 60 hours later, Friday April 29th at 6.00 p.m., the 6th Annual Radiothon had raised a record $448,561.00 for Children’s Hospital of Western Ontario.

This year’s Radiothon marked a milestone for Standard Radio London. For the second time in its 6-year history, three of the four Standard Radio properties - Q97.5, Newstalk 1290 and Country Favourites BX93 – were involved in the broadcast of the Radiothon. Each of the stations’ on-air personalities had the opportunity to bring the real stories of real people to their listeners through interviews with hospital staff, patients and their families.

CEO of Children’s Health Foundation, Debbie Comuzzi, unveiled the grand total dollars in an announcement on each of the three radio stations the morning of May 2. The whopping $448.561.00 raised is the largest amount raised, to date, by the Radiothon for Children’s. This also catapults Standard Radio Inc. into the “One Million Club” at Children’s Hospital. Over the past six years, $1,772,963.00 has been raised through the Radiothon and has been used by the hospital to purchase much-needed equipment and to fund vital patient services.

Radiothon for Kids is a group effort, involving every staff member of the three radio stations and each radio stations listening audience.

“We are very proud of our staff, clients and especially our listeners,“ enthuses Braden Doerr, General Manager, Standard Radio Inc., London. “Their ongoing support and generosity makes the Radiothon for Kids possible and every year, they dig deeper to help meet the needs of Children’s Hospital. Standard Radio London is committed to giving back to the community through quality programming and events such as this that make this a better place to live.”
