MIX 97 PROTESTS BY-LAW
Mix 97 Release
On Wednesday, July 13th, the Mix Morning Crew (Sean Kelly, Ingrid Moore and Todd Smith) in protest of a Quinte area family being fined by the local by-law office for not having a five foot fence up around their kids Mr. Turtle wading pool, and for not having a $50.00 pool permit, decided to have a pool party of their own on the patio at the Mix 97 studios.
Armed with a mask, flippers, and a Mr Elephant pool, the crew broadcast the 8-9am portion of their show from the pool.
The local by-law says that 18 inches is the maximum depth for a pool with no fence in the area, so they made sure that there was 19 inches of water in the pool to ensure that the law had been broken. Local by-law officials as well as police and even a local psychiatrist stopped by to see what was going on. In the end, the crew were let off with a stern warning, as long as they promised not to erect a pool again without a fence.
