96X EDMONTON FLIPS TO COUNTRY

Newcap Release

Newcap Radio Edmonton moves Big Earl from Camrose into the new interactive studios in the West Edmonton Mall and to a new place on your FM dial. The New Big Earl, “He Plays Everything Country”, can now be heard on 96 dot 3 replacing the former 96X!

At 9am this morning, the New Big Earl 96 dot 3 FM arrived in Edmonton with thousands of hit country songs from the 70's, 80's, 90's and today with a bit of attitude. Imagine an iPod set on shuffle. Then plugged into a transmitter with 100,000 watts of power! That’s the New Big Earl 96 dot 3. A totally different radio station made just for the “I want it all” world that we live in.

Who says you can't play Toby Keith, Hank Williams Jr., Tim McGraw, Johnny Cash, Gretchen Wilson, Willie Nelson, Keith Urban, Martina McBride and Garth Brooks all on the same station? Big Earl loves all that music, so he plays it all!

The New Big Earl difference… We're not like other radio stations that keep playing the same Top 40 songs over and over. At the New Big Earl, He Plays Everything Country including today's best new Country and yesterday's favorites that other radio stations have forgotten about. We don't stop the music between the songs. We play 52 minutes of music every hour, so now you can listen longer. It's the Big Earl difference.

Edmonton traffic woes continue, so the most important thing about Big Earl Timesaver Traffic is not just hearing the precious commute info every 10 minutes in the morning and afternoon, but knowing that you can rely on us to update you on traffic problems no matter when they happen. Keeping you informed, safe, and getting you there faster, Big Earl Timesaver Traffic keeps you movin' to and from work!

Stay tuned for a complete On-Air line up for the New Big Earl.

“790 CFCW is Alberta’s Heritage Country Radio Station. Music and Information will continue to be the staples of our format” says Jackie Rae Greening, Program Director/Morning Show Co-Host on 790 CFCW. “Big Earl will be music intensive, targeting the younger country music lover (and their attitude), on the FM dial at 96 dot 3.”

Rob Mise, Operations Manager of the New Big Earl 96 dot 3 FM and 97.3 K-Rock says, “We're certain that Edmonton country music fans will appreciate the New Big Earl, as he defies what normal behavior should be on the FM Radio dial. Combine that with his sharp focus and clarity about what really makes him different, Big Earl knows how passionate Edmontonians are about their country music.”

Randy Lemay, General Manager of the Newcap Edmonton Radio Group says, “We are extremely excited to announce this change of format on 96.3 FM. After considerable research including extensive interviews and surveys of Edmonton adults, the overwhelming response was that they wanted a station that played all of their favorite Country Hits that they listened to growing up along with the very best new Country music. The New Big Earl 96.3 is what Edmontonians have been craving for a very long time.”

The New Big Earl now joins the Newcap Edmonton Radio Group, which includes 97.3 K-Rock and 790 CFCW.
