CORUS RADIO IS FIRST TO PODCAST NATIONAL MUSIC-BASED PROGRAMS

Broadcaster Magazine

Music enthusiasts everywhere can now access the real stories behind their favourite artists any time, anywhere, as Corus Radio announces its successful launch of podcasting. Popular music documentary programs The Ongoing History of New Music and Legends of Classic Rock are now available for download across Corus' new rock and classic rock stations.

"Corus Radio's podcast offering really hits the sweet spot in terms of matching technology and content to the relevant audience," said Ross Winters, National Program Director, Corus Radio. "Eighteen- to 34-year-olds have the MP3 players* and they're eager to try out this new technology, but until this point, there has been very little content that appeals to them. So, Corus Radio offers them a solution: on-demand music-based programming from our rock stations—number 1 and 2 with the same group, in virtually every market we're in."

Hosted by Rock 101 Vancouver PD and musicologist, Jeff Woods, Legends of Classic Rock gives listeners the stories behind the music that defined a generation. The Ongoing History of New Music, hosted by foremost modern rock music historian Alan Cross, is the longest-running music documentary feature in the country. For over a decade, the show has explored the themes, facts, issues, myths and personalities behind today's music culture.

Developed by Corus' in-house Interactive team, The Ongoing History of New Music and Legends of Classic Rock podcasts can be accessed through Vancouver's Classic Rock 101 and CFOX, Calgary's Q107, London's The Hawk and FM 96, and Toronto's 102.1 The Edge and Q107.

"Corus is a leader in new technology because it focuses on the end user. It's not only our goal to be first, but to provide our subscribers with a service they can count on," said John Hayes, President, Corus Radio. "When we released this offering on April 8, we were confident that the service met the high standards our customers have come to expect from us."

With plans to expand this service to include more syndicated spoken-word content, these initial podcast offerings are just the beginning for Corus Radio.
